Head Sculpture in Clay

Sunday 3rd March
11am – 4pm

A chance to spend a few hours sculpting in clay  with tutor Kate Holding.

The aim of the session is to construct a small 3D clay head using a former (a basic shape to build on).  After preparing the former you will spend a couple of hours building up the facial structure and features and then allow them to dry over lunch. Feel free to bring a packed lunch to eat on the premises (tea and coffee are available), or you could pop over to the restaurant at The Regal Cinema just over the road.

After lunch you will cut the head in half, remove it from the former, reattach the pieces and then add ears, hair or headgear (or maybe you would like to turn it into a vessel)- and then you’re done!

Tools, clay, tea and coffee are provided and finished pieces can be taken home to air dry.  Firing is available for an extra £5 to be paid on the day.

This session is for adults who have some experience of working with clay, but you definitely don’t have to be a pro!

please bring a shoe box sized container to take your work home if you are not planning to have it fired.
